In "Vera," set in Northumberland, the use of Scottish terms like "lass" and "aye" reflects the historical and cultural connections between Northumberland and Scotland. Northumberland shares a border with Scotland, and historically, there has been significant cultural and linguistic interchange between the two regions.
The show is both set in and filmed in Newcastle upon Tyne and throughout the North East of England. This full-day tour will feature coastal locations of Northumberland to Lindisfarne Island, or Holy Island, the fictional home of Vera.
